Roses

One more lady bug picture!

I love pictures of nature.  These roses can be found in my yard.

Ladybug, ladybug!

I made a trip down memory lane this weekend.  Dylan's absolute favorite thing to do is to play outside.  He loves the freedom just to go as he pleases!  There are many times that we find ourselves being pulled to the front door by our little man as he says, "side."  Most evenings we enjoy at leas an hour of outside time after we eat.  It's a great way to wind down from the day.
This weekend was absolutely beautiful! Dylan and I ventured out a lot. On Saturday afternoon, Michael and I decided we would grill out and just enjoy the evening at home. Michael went to do a quick errand and while he was gone Dylan and I ventured outside. This is where my trip down memory lane begins. As a little girl, I simply loved ladybugs (or any bug for that sake). A ladybug in the grass caught my eye as Dylan and I walked around the yard. I showed it to Dylan and he was in LOVE!! To our amazement, there were TONS of them in the patch of grass we sat down in. We just had the best time picking them up and letting them crawl all over us. I was afraid Dylan would try to squeeze them but he didn't! It was so much fun. I'm glad I am getting to relive some of my favorite childhood memories with Dylan!

Freckles

When Michael and I started dating he lived alone with his 14 year old dashound, Cricket.  She loved me (yeah right).  I moved in on her territory.  As long as I can remember, I have always had a pet.  When Michael and I got married, I left behind 3 dogs at my parent's.  I really wanted a "pet" of my own.  I begged and pleaded with Michael.  The answer was always "no."  We had Cricket and she was enough.  Well she was a handful, but was really getting old and somewhat "pitiful."  I knew we wouldn't have her much longer and constantly thought about how hard it was going to be on Michael.  At least once a week, I would beg Michael to take me to get a puppy.  Every time we went by PetSmart I wanted to stop, I looked on-line at the rescue websites, I searched the newspapers, and made my way to the animals at every festival.  One day I convinced him!  He took me to a store in Anderson, but they wanted a ridiculous amount of money.  My birthday came and my mom and I went shopping.  I told Michael I would be coming home with a dog.  I think he thought I was joking.  As my mom and I drove past PetSmart, the cutest "red-haired" dog stood out to me.  We stopped, I went straight to his cage never noticing any of the other dogs, and asked to see him.  The girl looked very sad as she took him out of the cage and handed him to me.  She explained that she was his "foster" mom.  She loved him and really wanted to keep him, but with 3 other dogs it just wasn't going to work.  I played with him, let him lick my face, and jump all over me.  She sat and smiled and just watched.  I then looked at her and asked 2 very important questions:  How big will he get? and What's his name?  She answered the first question with, "about 30 lbs."  That was about 15 more than I wanted.  I began to debate the thoughts of him coming home with me.  I looked at his sweet face as she answered my second question, "His name is Freckles."  My heart melted at that very moment and my face beamed with pure joy.  He would fit right in!  I am covered with freckles and Michael has a few.  I explained that I thought it was meant to be.  I wanted to adopt him.  So......3 years later, I still love that sweet face.  We could not have asked for a better dog.  He is wonderful with Dylan and I love watching them play.

These are just a few of my favorite shots of Dylan!

Jena, Gracie, and Nathan

Jena, Gracie, and Nathan came along for Cindy and Brent's "photo shoot." Jena is really loves posing for the camera. I hope one day I can take some time to get some shots of her. She is a natural. I was able to get a few snapshots of the Bryson children.

Cindy and Brent's Engagement

This session was a little bitter sweet! My Aunt Cindy lost her husband suddenly in October 2009. She was in her late 30's, mother of 3 beautiful children, and LOST! She found love again and is so happy. She asked me to take a few pictures of her and Brent and of course I felt honored! Hope you enjoy.

Passion

I have decided to start a new blog.  I love my "The Adams Family" blog and plan to continue to use it as a timeline of my family, a way to share new ideas, and to collect recipes.  Photography is my passion.  I love taking pictures, as I feel that they are a simple way to cherish a memory.
When I graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science (not sure what I was thinking), I landed a job at a local nursing home.  My salary was great, the hours (7 -3 M-F) were awesome, and the amount of "free" time I had was overwhelming!  Needless to say, the job was very stressful as I too often became emotionally attached to my patients.  I spent numerous holidays taking care of the elderly instead of spending time with family and friends.  It became more stressful than I had planned. I took up photography as a way to relieve stress.  It was an outing to me.  I purchased a Canon Proshot (before the times of SLR) and began to "teach" my self.  Nature was my favorite thing to photograph (by the looks of my home, it's obvious).  I remember when Michael and I first started dating, we would get in the car and just ride to find "interesting" things for me to photograph.
I shared my passion with those that I worked with, as well as my family and friends.  I was asked to photograph several friends during their pregnancy and two coworkers' weddings.  The stress of the nursing home became more and more.  I just couldn't handle working in that type of environment any longer.  I prayed and prayed for God to allow me to follow the path of his plan.  It was after many prayers and even uncertanity that I applied to go back to school to become a teacher.  It was then that I no longer "had time" to photograph.  I was constantly wrapped up in assignments, classes, working full-time, and what little time I had left was spent with those I love.
Last, year I decided to purchase a new camera and pick back up the passion I missed so much.  It has been an adjustment and I'm sure my 17 month (wow) old son is sick of having his picture made.  For Christmas, Michael game me several accessories (lenses and external flash) for my camera.
Of course, I have decided to go back to school and pursue my Specialist Degree, but it's much less overwhelming and I still have time to take pictures.
I plan to use this blog as a way to share my photography.  Taking pictures is something I love to do and by no means do I see my self as a professional.  I hire someone to take pictures of my family and would never want to take away from those who have worked so hard to become "trained photographers."
